SMADA — Privacy Policy

Who we are

This policy covers SMADA (Stormwater Management and Design Aid), a Windows desktop application published on the Microsoft Store by Dean Eaglin ("we", "us"), the publisher named on the app's Store listing. Contact: ron.eaglin@gmail.com.

Summary

SMADA is free urban-hydrology software: watershed runoff, time of concentration, design storms and runoff hydrographs, channel and pipe hydraulics, and frequency analysis. It accompanies Hydrology: Water Quantity and Quality Control (Wanielista, Kersten, Eaglin) and is intended as an aid for students in college hydrology programs and for practising engineers.

SMADA collects nothing and transmits nothing. It runs entirely on your own computer. There are no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, and no network connection of any kind — the application works with the internet switched off.

What we collect

Nothing. No personal information, no usage or diagnostic data, no device identifiers, no location. The app does not ask you to sign in and has no in-app purchases.

Your work, and where it stays

Everything you enter — watershed parameters, rainfall records, project names — is your own work, written only to your own computer:

• Documents\SMADA — project files (.smada), the dimensionless rainfall curve library, and any report, PDF or CSV you export. You can save anywhere else you like through the ordinary Save dialog.
• %LOCALAPPDATA%\SMADA — recovery autosave, so an interrupted session can be restored.
• Your Windows temporary folder — undo snapshots while the app is running, and the HTML of a report or an instructions page at the moment you ask to open it in your browser. Windows clears these in the normal way.

None of it is uploaded or synchronised anywhere. Deleting these files, or uninstalling SMADA, removes them from your computer. We have no copy and no way to obtain one.

Network use

SMADA makes no network connections. It contains no code that opens a socket, calls a web service, checks for updates, or reports errors.

Permissions

The Store package declares one capability, runFullTrust. That is the standard capability for any full desktop (Win32) application, and it is what lets SMADA read and write your own project files through ordinary Windows file dialogs. It is not used to reach any other application's data, and SMADA never needs administrator rights.

Third parties

SMADA includes open-source components — for example ScottPlot for charts and PDFsharp for PDF export. They run locally as part of the application and transmit nothing. Microsoft operates the Store you downloaded SMADA from, and Microsoft's own privacy statement covers that download; the application itself stays offline.

Retention and deletion

Because nothing is stored off your computer, there is nothing for us to retain or delete. Deleting your project files, or uninstalling the app, removes everything it holds.

Children

SMADA is a technical tool for hydrology students and engineers. Because it collects no information from anyone, it collects none from children.

Changes to this policy

Updates will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
