Overview

PunchMonkey ("the app," "the service") is an NFC-based checkpoint tracking platform for races and events. This policy describes what information is collected, how it is used, and how it is shared.

Information we collect

Name

When you use the PunchMonkey mobile app, you enter a display name before joining an event. This name is stored on the server and associated with any checkpoint scans you record during the event. Your name is visible to other users on the public results pages for events you participate in.

No other account information — no email address, no password, no phone number — is required to use the app as a participant.

Location

The app requests access to your device's location. Location data may be recorded alongside checkpoint scans to verify proximity to a tag. Location data is used only for event scoring purposes and is not shared with third parties or used for advertising.

Device identifier

The app generates a random identifier for your device on first launch. This identifier is sent with each scan to help the server deduplicate check-ins from the same device. It is not linked to your name or any personal account and is not shared with third parties.

NFC scan records

Each time you tap an NFC checkpoint tag, the app records the tag ID, the time of the scan, and the name you entered. These records are associated with your selected team and are visible on the public results pages for the event.

How we use your information

• To record and display checkpoint check-ins for your team during an event.
• To display race results and leaderboards to participants and spectators.
• To allow race directors to review event activity and resolve disputes.

We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell your information to any third party.

Public visibility

Event results, including your display name and checkpoint scan times, are shown on publicly accessible result pages. If you do not want your name publicly visible, use an alias or nickname when entering your name in the app.

Data retention

Scan records and event data are retained for as long as the event is active on the platform. Race directors and administrators may delete events and associated data at any time.

Children

PunchMonkey is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has submitted information through the app, please contact us and we will remove it.

Your rights — data deletion

You may request that your name be removed from all scan records at any time. Submit a data deletion request and we will replace your name with a blank entry across all event results.
